What is your work-out routine, how do you keep yourself in shape ? What seperates you from other females in your field ? Are you competitive in your work career ? How so ?
My workout routine is fairly simple- I emphasize weight and cardio training on alternate days of the week. I stay motivated best by attending fitness classes, so you can always catch me in a BodyPump, BodyStep, Kickboxing or Zumba class.
There are only a handful of impactful black females who have served in the role of a conference director of public relations. I believe that my tenure in this position, and the positive changes that I’ve made over time- whether through technology or the functionality of how we do things at the CIAA, has separated me from the pack.
I wouldn’t say that I’m competitive in my work career, but I do make every effort to protect my personal brand. I value integrity, having a solid work ethic, being a reliable source of help and information and striving to be the best at whatever I do. When you conduct yourself in a way that others can respect, the door of opportunity and advancement is always open to you.

Strengths: Hard working, reliable, always striving to be better. Weaknesses: I sometimes take situations too seriously and I need to take more time out for myself.
Are you involved in the community, how so, please explain.
I am a special events volunteer for the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), a public relations volunteer for the Virginia Beach chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and I speak to sports management majors at my alma mater, Hampton University. I am also working with local food advocates to bring whole, healthy foods to inner city neighborhoods in the Hampton Roads area.
Is it tough being a female in this sports field, and what are the challenges that you face on a day to day basis ? It’s not as tough as it used to be- being a female in the sports field. Women’s roles in athletics have changed dramatically in the past 10+ years. But, coupled with the progress that we’ve made, there are still a few hurdles that we face. On a daily basis, I don’t meet many challenges that aren’t a part of routine workplace politics.
Tell me your interest in InSide HBCU Fitness & Style Magazine, and why did you decide to be apart of this magazine
I agreed to this interview because I see the importance of African-Americans taking charge and being proactive with their health by educating themselves and adopting healthy lifestyles that will sustain them for a lifetime. College years are the best years to begin developing a healthy, conscious way of living that will set the pace for your adult life.
When other athletes see you on the cover of InSide HBCU Fitness & Style Magazine, what do you want to get from this interview when reading this. I wasn’t an athlete in college, but I’m asked that question all of the time. I think it’s because I’ve begun to treat my body as if I’m in training year-round. I want people to know, that whether you were an athlete in college or not, it’s imperative to embrace fitness and athleticism at any age and stage of your life.
How does it feel to be apart of The Superior Sports Network (InSide HBCU Fitness & Style Magazine) Family and being the Ambassador to represent The Superior Sports Network Franchise ? I’m glad to be a part of a positive operation that uplifts the HBCU community.
